Who We Are - Founding Missionaries

Andrew and Rebecca Loveall have been serving as missionaries to Guatemala since February of 2000. They are formerly from Rockford, Illinois. Their mission work primarily focuses on discipleship in two areas of Guatemala.

The first area of ministry they lead is in the colonial city of Antigua, where they founded the “Escuela Integrada de Niños Trabajadores” (“Integrated School for Working Children”), a school for extremely poor children the vast majority of which are from displaced Mayan families who have left their rural villages in search of work and opportunity. As of June 2006 there were 265 students enrolled from grades kindergarten through 8th grade. A breakfast / lunch feeding program is included in this school. Basic Christian values are taught along with an excellent education. There is a small medical clinic in the school which provides basic medical help to the families. A Guatemalan Christian psychologist provides counseling to students and families. The teaching and discipleship of Escuela Integrada directly touches the lives of more than 180 families.

The second area of mission focus is based around the Mayan city of Patzún in the western highlands of Guatemala where the Lovealls lead a Pastors and Church Leaders Conference ministry. Local pastors and church leaders, from over 9 different evangelical denominations (representing more than 35 congregations), come together for biblical teaching and training through these monthly Conferences.

The Conference Ministry facilitates special projects and outreaches which are coordinated through the local churches. These include village medical projects, construction projects, childrens and womens ministry activities, youth discipleship and evangelism, as well as broad evangelism outreaches. The Conference Ministry leadership team meets, across denominational lines, every week to coordinate these special projects and to support each other in the work of the various churches represented.

February 2006 saw the opening a middle school in the Mayan village of Chuchuca Alto which is just outside the Mayan city center of Patzun. This school, Escuela Integrada - Chuchuca, is the first expansion of the Escuela Integrada program. There are presently 25 students at Escuela Integrada - Chuchuca. In 2007, when another grade will be added, there will be 50 students in this satellite school. This satellite school was directly born out of the demand for education generated by the Patzún Conference Ministry.
